Ruslan Salakhutdinov
Computer scientist who co-authored the 2006 Science paper on deep autoencoders with Geoffrey Hinton.
With Geoffrey Hinton, Salakhutdinov showed in Science (July 2006) that deep autoencoders could compress high-dimensional data far better than shallow methods, alongside the deep belief network work published the same month. He later led machine learning research at Apple and Carnegie Mellon.
