Yoshua Bengio

1964

Canadian researcher whose deep learning work earned a share of the 2018 Turing Award.

Bengio helped advance deep learning through representation learning and sequence models at the Université de Montréal, including a 2003 neural language model that influenced later word embeddings. He shared the 2018 Turing Award with Geoffrey Hinton and Yann LeCun for breakthroughs that made neural networks central to modern AI.
