Yann LeCun

Pioneer of convolutional neural networks and chief AI scientist at Meta.

LeCun developed convolutional neural networks trained with backpropagation, including a 1989 system that read handwritten zip codes. His work laid groundwork for modern deep learning. He shared the 2018 Turing Award with Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio for their work on deep neural networks.
