Computer scientist who led the IBM team that built Deep Blue and defeated Garry Kasparov in 1997.

Hsu designed the custom chess chips behind Deep Blue, which evaluated about 200 million positions per second using symbolic AI search. In May 1997 the system beat world champion Garry Kasparov in a six-game match in New York.
