With Ilya Sutskever and Geoffrey Hinton, Krizhevsky built AlexNet, a convolutional neural network that crushed rivals at the 2012 ImageNet challenge. Its use of GPUs for deep learning training showed that scale and hardware could transform image recognition overnight.
